Stranger Things
In the past few years, Stranger Things has swept the world and brought us back to the 80s. As a huge D&D fan, I found the mixture of D&D lore and 80s nostalgia to be quite satisfying. It's like if E.T. and The Goonies, got married, and the officiant of the wedding was Steven Spielberg.
Even though I love the story and all of it's elements, I want to talk about a few of the characters. The boys, Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas remind me of my group of friends in Middle School. Staying up late, playing games, going exploring, traveling across town on bikes, and giving each other a hard time. Dustin is my favorite of the boys. He's just a caring character who wants nothing more than everyone to get along and support each other. Mike on the other hand, sorry to my wife, is just so whiny and annoying in my opinion. I know that he is just a kid, but so is Dustin, Will, and Eleven, and they don't annoy me.
Speaking of which, Eleven is the centerpiece of the show. She has so much depth and continues to grow in so many ways. Her powers make her very interesting, but I believe it is her way of being an outcast, who has never had a normal life, that intrigues me. Eleven has done much of her growing because of her friend Max.
Max has quickly become a fan favorite because of her toughness, not just in calling the boys out on their stupidity, but her strength in dealing with troubles at home. Coming from an poor, abusive family, she deals with her troubles and still finds ways to show compassion and caring for other, even though she was standoffish at first, she has grown a lot.
Eleven's other mentor and another fan favorite since day 1, was Hopper. Hopper is the town police chief and seems to go above and beyond, to help Joyce Byers. He has taken in Eleven as a daughter and has learned to be a father again. Revealed in season 1, his biological daughter passed away long ago. Seeing Hopper get a second chance, has been a wonderful time.
Don't worry folks, I didn't forget the best babysitter in the whole world. Steve Harrington, has become one of the best characters and had the most growth in just one season. Poor guy gets beat up all the time. He really let his inner nerd fly, when he met his partner in crime Robin. The duo has been so much fun, and no offense to Nancy Wheeler, but Robin and Steve in their Scoops Ahoy outfits, is the upper echelon of perfect duos.
After watching season 4, the newest duo, Eddie Munson and Chrissy Cunningham, have quickly become a few of the fan favorites. Eddie's upside down metal concert was just one of the iconic scenes that made this character world famous. It is amazing how so many characters can be so deep and show so much development and growth, in one show.
The Duffer Brothers have done an excellent job as well as the entire staff. I appreciate all the joy and nostalgic feels they have given me and I look forward to the final season, though I am sad to see it go.
I appreciate you REBELS, you should go and take a look at all the new Stranger Things inventory that was just listed. Hope you have a wonderful Halloween and remember you can't spell America without Erica.
