A New Hope…. For Nerds.
Ever since I was a kid, Star Wars had captured my imagination. The idea of Jedi Knights and the use of the force, had me practicing moving things with my mind and an outstretched arm. I wanted so badly to be a Jedi. I remember asking my mom to get me a Jedi costume, so I could dress up, when the situation called for a Jedi. I was sure that if I had dressed up as a Jedi, the powers would come along too. Of course, the costumes my parents found were very minimalistic, and I had very refined taste. I only wanted screen ready costumes. I know I was a very picky child, but I knew what I wanted. Sadly, I never did find that movie quality costume as a kid. Things are very different now! More and more movie quality costumes are being produced daily and are available to people all around the world. I bought my first movie quality Obi-Wan outfit a few years ago and was so happy. I felt like a kid again. The excitement of my 5-year-old self, had resurfaced. Now at conventions, I can cosplay as Obi-Wan Kenobi and run into Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Anakin Skywalker or Darth Vader, and all the characters I love, and interact with them. The time of the nerd is truly upon us! I guess what I am saying is to let your nerdy self out and be a child once again. It is such a breath of fresh air. Let your nerd flag fly high my friends, because the time for high quality costumes is here.
